A very popular old apple from the southwest of England during the 19th century. It’s one of the earliest apples. Small in size, its skin is an attractive red flush / stripe over yellow. The flesh is creamy white with a fairly sharp but sweet flavour and quite aromatic. Tends to bear heavily and regularly, however it does need to be pollinated by another variety such as Cox’s Orange Pippin, Granny Smith, Jonathan, Joybells, Kingston Black, Peasgood Nonsuch and Sunset.
