Diospyros lotus , better known as the Date-plum or Caucasian Persimmon is a widely cultivated species of the genus Diospyros , native to subtropical southwest Asia and southeast Europe .
Fruit – raw or cooked. The fruit has an exquisitely rich flavour when it is fully ripe (almost at the point of going bad), The fruit can be dried, when it acquires a date-like flavour.
Grows to 3m+ high.
