Ornithogalum caudatum, False Sea Onion – Pb6.5

Also known as False Sea Onion. A rather curious bulbous plant and looks very similar to an onion. It a classic cryptophyte (with bulb-like stem) that dies back during the dry period of the South African coastal regions. May be grown in full sun or partial shade where soils are free-draining. Tolerates heat, periods of drought but does look at its best when watered on a regular basis. Flower spike may grow to between 70cm and 90cm in height.
