Produce fruit with a dark, smooth skin and the flesh has a rich, aromatic flavour. The plant is slow growing, compact with a bushy growth habit. Requires a sunny, sheltered position where soils are fertile and free-draining. Ensure there is enough moisture when in fruit. Produces heavier crops when grown near to another variety of feijoa. Opal Star are a late season variety with fruit being ready to harvest in April and May.
May grow to between 3m and 4m both in height and width.
