A deciduous shrub or small tree producing florets of small, cream-white flowers in late Spring that are then followed by dark, purple-black berries in Autumn. Berries are edible after being cooked and may be used to make jams and other preserves. Flowers can also be used to make cordial or Elderberry “champagne”. Best grown in a sunny position where soils are reasonably moist and free-draining.

May grow to between 5m and 6m both in height and width.
