Plum Marabella – Pb12

This is a plum that arrived in New Zealand on the sailing ships from the homeland that stopped in South Africa on the way. A lot of the plant material that was originally stowed on the ships rotted going through the tropics, so plant material in South Africa was snapped up. It is a favourite plum because it is a reliable prolific producer of excellent medium size bottling plums. It has a yellow skin with a red blush and yellow flesh that takes on an almond flavour when cooked.
