This is one of the largest varieties with thick, broad, heart-shaped foliage that is light green in colour then becoming golden-yellow with regular exposure to the sun. Racemes of fragrant, bell-shaped pale mauve flowers appear in summer. A hardy hebaceous perennial that is easy to grow. Remove spent flower spikes after flowering and cuff foliage as they die in autumn. Best grown in partial shade where soils are rich in organic material, moist and free-draining.
