Fagus ‘Purple Fountain’ (Weeping Purple European Beech) has a columnar shape with cascading side branches. Its beautiful bronze-purple-black foliage changes throughout the seasons. New dark red leaves in the spring then deepen to bronze-purple-black by summer. Come autumn, the leaves change to an orange-brown, before falling in winter. Wavy margined leaves. Native to Europe.
Full sun for best colour. Deciduous.
Perfect as a street tree in any reasonably well-drained soil. Also excellent as a small garden specimen tree, growing 5-8m tall.
