Easy to grow, tough and hardy deciduous shrub with an arching network of bare branches (usually with thorns). Low spreading form makes ‘Chaenomeles Early Orange’ ideal for hedges or ground covers.
Come winter these are covered with clusters of buds which open to bright little orange blossoms – adding that needed vibrancy to dull winter days. They cover the plant both before and after the green foliage emerges in late winter and early spring. Fragrant yellow small fruit ripens in the winter and maybe cooked in preserves or jellies.
