Black Chokeberry – Aronia melanocarpa tends to be small, rarely exceeding 1m in height and spreads readily by root sprouts. The leaves are small, not more than 6cm wide with terminal glands on leaf teeth and a glabrous underside, have great autumn colour. The flowers are white with glabrous sepals. The fruit are black and often eaten by birds. Plant in full sun or part shade in moist, free-draining soils.
