Also known as Gaultheria mucronate or Prickly Heath. A small, suckering evergreen shrub forming a dense thicket with small, spiny, dark green leaves. Produces small white flowers in early summer followed by pale magenta berries that become darker as they mature. Can be grown in full sun or partial shade where soils are fertile, slightly acidic, moist and free-draining. Grows to between 1m and 1.2m both in height and width.
