‘The President’ is a medium-sized deciduous climber. Single cupped flowers up to 18cm in width, with eight overlapping velvety textured rich violet purple-blue sepals, silvery on the reverse with pinkish and deep red stamens. Flowers late spring to late spring and late summer to early autumn. Dark green leaves which fall in Autumn. Frost hardy.
Ideal for walls, fences, trellis and pillars or grown through perennials and shrubs.
Suits sun to part shade, with roots shaded from strong sunlight. Grows well in all but the most exposed positions. Frost hardy. Cut back all stems to a pair of strong buds in early spring. Flowers on previous year’s growth.
