A vigorous, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial with a corm-like rootstock, tufts of narrowly lance-shaped leaves, bearing, solitary, magenta coloured flowers in late spring and early summer. Best grown in a sunny position where soils are slightly acidic to neutral and free-draining. They are perfect for planting in an alpine garden, rockery or in containers. Grows to between 10cm and 15cm in height.
