Also known as Whiteywood and Mahoe. A native tree of New Zealand and found in forests, forest margins and along waterways. Has pointed, oval-shaped foliage, grey-white bark and small white flowers during spring which then develop into small purple-black berries that are a good source of food for birds. Likes full sun or dappled, partial shade. Hardy but may need some protection from frosts when young. Evergreen.

Grows to approximately 8m to 10m.
