Also known as Pohutukawa and Maori Princess Pohutukawa. A reasonably hardy, evergreen tree that produces a mass of deep crimson flowers that begin to emerge in December and through into January. These flowers attract nectar-feeding birds. Has an upright, conical growth habit that is suitable for growing in coastal and urban situations. Prefers full sun and average type soils that are free-draining. Responds well to trimming so may used to form hedges and screens, ideal as a specimen tree too.
Grows to approximately 6m x 3.5m.
