Fagus Riversii, River’s Purple Beech

Also known as Purple Copper Beech. A large dome-shaped tree with large rounded leaves that are a rich, deep purple-black. Holds its colour until autumn when the leaves drop cleanly. More reliable in colour and form than the seedling copper beech. Needs protection from winds when young. Grow in either full sun or partial shade where soils are rich, moist but free-draining.
