Not as common as Liriodedron tulipifera. New foliage appears with a purple tinge and then becoming very large with a bluish-green colour and finally turning to a buttery-yellow colour in autumn. Produces yellow-green, tulip-shaped flowers in early summer. May grow to about 10m over 10 years.
