A small-growing, deciduous tree bearing large, fragrant wine coloured flowers with white inners during Spring. The large, rich green foliage emerges soon after the flowers. Best grown in a sheltered position either in full sun or partial shade. Requires soils that are suitably moist, fertile, slightly acidic and free-draining. May be grown in containers.
Grows to about 2m in height.
